Dear Dr. Neck Surgeon.
Today you prescribed Darvocet and Norco to your patient. Each of which if the patient took per your instructions, they would end up in the hospital for liver failure, not to say anything if they were to take them together.
I called you - you yelled at me. You told me that you know about the maximum dose of apap and that so does your pt.
I congratulate you on having such an intelligent pt Dr. Neck surgeon. But don’t tell that to me, save your breath for the jury. Save your breath and explain to them why it was unnecessary to document telling the patient the dangers of apap overdose.
By the way Dr. Neck Surgeon, if you’re going to put a pt on 2 narcotics for pain - the proper procedure is to give one pain reliever in extended release formulation for basal levels and to give one as immediate release for breakthrough pain.
I would have told you had you not hung up on me!
